Associative

(a+b)+c=a+(b+c)  and  (ab)c=a(bc)
This simply states that addition or multiplication will done in any order will give you the same number.

Symetric
        If a=b then b=a
This states that if 1 equals one, then of course, 1 is equal to 1.  This works like 1.5=3/2 also.

Reflexive
        a=a
If one number equals itself, it is true.

Substitution
If a=b then a may be replaced with b in anything.
This is almost like Symetric.  Actually, it can be pretty rough trying to tell the difference.

Transitive
        If a=b and b=c then a=c
This is the Substitution Property with three variables.

Identity

a+0=a  and  a*1=a
A plus nothing would give you a again, as will a multiplied by 1.

Commutive
        a+b=b+a  and  a*b=b*a
Same thing as Associative Property, yet with 2 numbers and without parenthesis.  It doesn't matter in which order you do it in.
